Anne marie skye’s drawings

Drawings have always been the “bones” underlying my paintings. This past year, I have discovered a growing interest in drawings in their own right, as finished pieces. I do both line drawings in ink on smooth, nearly toothless paper, and graphite drawings on plate bristol. Often I use these black and white sources to paint from, finding I have no difficulty seeing the colors in the drawings themselves. This has allowed me to further simplify my art travel kit; I no longer routinely carry watercolor supplies. The drawing album on this page presents some of my favorite recent drawings. The oil pastel album is related work which could as easily have appeared in the painting section of the website.
